Kiran is suffering from psychiatric illness since her adolescent days. Earlier she was admitted to atleast two rehabilitation centres. From those places when she was released she was symptom free. After few days or months without medication again she became ill and wandered away from home. Once police took hold of her and sent to a rehabilitation centre in Hooghly. Same story was repeated, ie, she was symptom free and was brought to home, few days without medication and her symptoms flared up. This time one psychiatric social worker of A VIEW who happened to know her history, contacted her mother and Kiran was brought to A VIEW Jibantala. It took some 4-6 months to come to a symptoms free state. There in A VIEW Village rehabilitation centre in Jibantala she started taking some responsibilities and worked with other residents. In second stage of rehabilitation she was sent to our semi indipendent fecility at Bhatpara, North 24 Parganas, here she started earning, it went up to 3-4 thousands rupees per month. After working there for more than one year she was restored to her family. Now she is earning by helping a family with their child and either Kiran herself with her parent or her parent come at Bhatpara to collect her medicine. A VIEW keeps a monthly follow up about how she is going on.
