Arundhati Bhattacharya

Arundhati Bhattacharya, approximately 55 years old, was rescued from the road in front of her house at Ahiritola and brought to the organization with the cooperation of her sister and neighbors.

After admission to the organization, it was observed that she would walk almost throughout the day. If a fly sat on any part of her body, she would wash that area with water; after spitting, she would wash her mouth. Her water consumption was excessive. She also worried excessively over very minor issues.

Subsequently, medication and counseling sessions were started, and improvement in her condition was observed. Her family was contacted regarding taking her back home; however, the family’s living and financial condition was not adequate to keep Arundhati Bhattacharya with them.

Therefore, with the family’s consent, she was transferred to Friends of Kolkata Elderly (FOKE).

At present, she is healthy and happy, as she has found companions of her own age. The AVIEW organization maintains regular follow-up and sends her medications regularly.
