Jhuma Baidya

Jhuma Baidya, a 28-year-old woman, was brought to AVIEW on 22.08.25 by her mother and husband.

Her family came to know about AVIEW through one of our earlier patients, whom the organization had rescued from the road and helped reunite with her family. Jhuma belonged to the same village. After hearing about AVIEW’s work, her family brought her here with the hope that she would receive proper care, treatment and support.

Before coming to AVIEW, Jhuma had been suffering from psychiatric illness for nearly six months. When she arrived, she was in a very disturbed condition. She was restless, neglected her personal care, damaged her clothes and belongings, and had almost stopped eating. Her family was deeply worried and felt helpless seeing her condition.

At AVIEW, her counselling, group sessions, medication and regular observation were started. Her treatment needed careful attention, as she was sensitive to medicines and showed side effects. The team monitored her closely and cared for her with patience.

Slowly, Jhuma began to respond. She started speaking a little, listening to others, and remembering her husband, daughter and family members. As her condition improved, she also began taking part in simple daily activities at the home, such as cleaning her room and washing utensils. These small steps showed that she was becoming calmer, more aware and more connected with her surroundings.

AVIEW also helped her remain in regular contact with her family, which supported her emotional recovery and prepared her for returning home.

Before her discharge on 29.06.2026, there was a marked improvement in Jhuma’s condition. When her family came to take her home, they were overjoyed to see the change in her. AVIEW provided three months of medication and will continue follow-up support.
